It is a common fact that negative energy can be taken up easily, even if those releasing that negativity, are our dear ones. It will initially affect the vibrations around us. But gradually it will affect us too.Researchers say that those people who are married to a frail spouse are expected to grow frail themselves and a person wedded to a depressed spouse is more probable to be sad. They also added that in older adults, weakness and depression are linked within couples.

Older People More Inclined
Frailty is a condition that influences 10 percent of people who are aged 65 and older. This can make older adults more inclined to disability, hospitalisation, falls and a shorter lifespan.Other than that, they also found that the frailer an older person is, the more probable it is that she or he will become depressed. On the other hand, the more depressed an older individual is, the more likely she or he is to grow frail.

The study, which was published in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society, investigated the consequences of depression and frailty on married couples. These conclusions were based on an examination of data from around 1,260 married couples, who were aged 65 and older. The data was gathered during the ‘Cardiovascular Health Study’.Even though we know much about the consequences of depression and frailty on individuals, up until now, little has been revealed about how these two states may be linked within married couples.
However, the older husbands led to being more frail and depressed than the younger husbands. On the other hand, older wives were not more depressed but were found to be more frailer than the younger wives.Usually, people are supposed to be frail if they have three or more of conditions such as weakness, exhaustion, low body weight (unintentional decline of 10 pounds in the past year), slowness and physical inactivity.
How To Prevent Depression

Depression can seem like you’re under a constant dark cloud and this can cause you to look in a grey or perhaps a grumpy mood. You may feel dull, empty, and without interest in activities you usually relish. Depression also produces uncharacteristically negative thoughts about others, yourself and your future. The researchers suggested that the depression and frailty symptoms may be intertwined for spouses, implying that senior living facilities might examine ways to develop couples’ engagement in social activities, physical activities and mutual support.
